OPR to hold further online planning training webinar for local authority elected members

The Office of the Planning Regulator (OPR) in conjunction with the Association of Irish Local Government (AILG) will continue its series of online planning training webinars for local authority elected members on Friday, 27th November from 10am-11:30 am.

November’s webinar is entitled “Implementation of the Development Plan and the Development Management Process.”

There will be two separate presentations:

  • The Role of the Elected Member in the Development Management Process.
  • The Link between the Elected Members’ Plan-Making Function and the Development Management Process.

The presentations will be delivered by Niall Cussen, the Planning Regulator and Anne Marie O’Connor, the Deputy Planning Regulator.

The purpose of the webinar is to confirm the legislative and regulatory position of elected members as regards their input to the development management process. It will also highlight, when and where, it is appropriate for elected members to engage with the process and outline how to do so effectively.

To attend, please register by emailing info@ailg.ie. Early registration is recommended.

This will be the sixth planning training event organised by the AILG and the OPR. Events were previously held in Dundalk and Limerick in October 2019, Cavan and Waterford in February 2020 and online training webinars were hosted in July, September and October 2020. Presentations delivered at these events are available at www.opr.ie/elected-members-training/

Further webinars are planned for January and February 2021.
